Contact the Elderly looking for volunteers

Who are they?

Supported by a network of volunteers, Contact the Elderly organises monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for small groups of older people aged 75 and over, who live alone, offering a regular and vital friendship link every month.

Care, conversation and a cuppa

Since their first tea party held in 1965, Contact the Elderly has supported more than 100,000 lonely older people.

They need local volunteers

Once a month, normally on a Sunday afternoon, each older guest is collected from their home by a volunteer driver, and taken to a volunteer host’s home, where they join a small group for tea, talk and companionship. The group is warmly welcomed by a different host each month, but the charity’s drivers and older guests remain the same. This means that over the months and years, acquaintances turn into friends and loneliness is replaced by companionship.

You can read about the three different ways to volunteer with Contact the Elderly and all of the other information on their website.
